Survivors of Violence and/or Abuse

YWCA Employment Counsellors provided specialized employment-related services to Survivors of Violence and/or Abuse.

Our staff are trained to support women dealing with violence and abuse issues who are returning to work and in need of specialized services. Clients are provided with individualized services that address their barriers through counselling, personal development and employment related skills to prepare for employment, educational upgrading, post-secondary education and training opportunities.

The YWCA Learning Employment and Development Skills (LEADS) program and Customized Employment Services are provided by trained violence/trauma informed staff. The LEADS program assists participants with taking control of their lives and providing them with the freedom to work on their personal healing while gaining skills for job search and leads to potential employment.

Clients are provided with referrals to a variety of community organizations and resources where they can access family supports, language training or support, health and wellness services, training, childcare and community crime prevention and safety programs.
